The Napa SAL Judo program was created to introduce young people to Judo.
Judo was originally derived from Ju-Jitsu and is a grappling martial art consisting of dynamic throws, pins, and submissions. Judo is more famous in its sporting form as seen in the Olympics. Kids learn structure, discipline, and character.
The following moto is learned:
‘The secret to Judo is like the secret to life: If you get thrown down 7 times…get up 8 times.’
Classes are Free for Napa County residents
Napa SAL Judo is free for kids from 7-17 years old. We meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00-7:00 PM at American Canyon High School.Classes are taught by head instructor Dan Hsieh (who has over 20 years’ experience teaching), his son Josh and daughter Jessica (who both have over 10 years’ experience teaching), and two deputies from the Sheriff’s Department.
